Abrahadabra Forums closed its doors to the public recently. This won’t affect the continuity of The Abrahadabra Institute itself. We are looking forward to new directions and developments. If you’d like to join in on conversations on a topic here on the front end, you’ll need to register:

Important note:  Staff writers (anyone who has access to the Forums)  need to contact admin directly to get access to the panel that allows users to create posts, rather than just reply to content already on the site. In the Future….

The Mutational Alchemy Tarot is still in review, we’re going to be self publishing and submitting to a mass distribution publisher.  We’ve already begun the self-publication process so look for news of the deck perhaps as early as Late Fall 2013. The system and hence the writing is fairly complex so the self published deck probably won’t be accompanied by a full book, however we’ll figure something out.

m1thr0s will be continuing the Symposium series through 2013. This volume for 2013 will not be reprinted so get your copies now or miss out. They’ll be available as a single volume at the end of the year, but will be much more expensive, so the booklets are the best way to get the information. Staff as always gets free access to the booklets, m1thr0s will be converting them to the forums later this year.

Two new projects are being outlined, titled Heliopolis II  and Possession. Both are graphic novels and both are going to be dealing with topics of interest to The Abrahadabra Institute and occultists. That’s all I can reveal for now.

This 24-page booklet marks the first of a series of monthly symposiums held in Olympia, Washington (begin date: February 6, 2013) surrounding Mutational Alchemy theory and practice. These symposiums take the form of technical presentations followed by open discussion among participating parties. The intent is to stay as closely as possible to the information presented in the accompanying booklets, so that if you cannot attend the symposiums themselves, the booklets should provide readers with a fair overview of what was presented in each case.

In our first gathering we explored the enigmatic *Hidden Diamond* of the Tree of Life beginning with a brief overview of the Tree and history of Western Magickal traditions, advancing logically towards the evolution of the *Star* model of human evolutionary potential where the 16 *Hidden Paths* have an important role to play, highlighting tantric applications specific to the Tree of Life that have thus far gone overlooked and unattended. While there are a very few cursory slivers of information available on the Hidden Diamond at large already, there has been virtually no work done in this area of any academic merit. Owing to its importance and immediate accessibility, I determined that the Hidden Diamond was a good way to kick off these symposiums, giving readers vitally important information they can begin working with right away.

Born in Berkeley, California in 1953 on the cusp of the water snake and dragon years, m1thr0s has been a dedicated student of the I Ching, Qabbalah, Tantra, and Esoteric (Spiritual) Alchemy since his early teens.

His art features many classical elements from mystical traditions around the world such as the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the charismatic Flower of Life, the Pythagorean Tetractys, the I Ching Hexagrams, the Lo Shu Magic Square (and subsequent Magickal Squares), the Abrahadabra Grid, the (Hidden) Diamond of the Tree of Life, among others. He defines himself as a *Talismanic Artist* whose objective is to facilitate dynamic transformation in viewers through the simple act of viewing these powerful transcendental images.

m1thr0s’s art is tracking the *star* thesis of human evolutionary potential through exhaustive analysis of The Body of Light in lieu of Abrahadabra, as revealed in Aleister Crowley’s Liber Al vel Legis (The Book of the Law) in 1904. While not strictly a devotee of Crowley, his work often vindicates the best of Crowley’s own insights and provides us with the freshest window into *star alchemy* available anywhere in the modern world.

The groundbreaking synthesis of astrological, alchemical and geomantic elements in The Mutational Alchemy Tarot Deck are all his inventions and provide a rich and fertile ground for the viewer to explore. The art of m1thr0s affects subtle changes in us at a molecular level as is indicative of the highest examples of talismanic art.

On the week of Aleister Crowley’s 137th birthday, happening October 12th,  I thought I would take the time to highlight one artist working in the same shock culture vein the iconic occultist was best known for.

m1thr0s, the head of The Abrahadabra Institute introduced me to Chris at a private meeting of Left Hand Path practitioners. It was held at a  quaint, creaky and dark wood-paneled teahouse that resembles the inside of a pirate tavern in New Orleans perhaps, or Baba Yaga’s  cabin.

Charming and softspoken, Chris pulled out and showed some of his newest designs to us and I squealed with delight to see “Satanic Missionary Society” and “HAIL SATAN!”  printed in bold black and white next to modern symbols used in airports.

Chris Allert, or the Anti-Chris as he is known about town, hand makes the most precious, lovingly hand-made little devotional and evilangelical materials dedicated to the dark lord you have ever seen.

The next week, sandwiched between m1thr0s and couple of members of the Temple       of Set, Chris pulled out some more of his art that he had promised to show us. Chris explained  ”I got interviewed by KOMO news, and I told them that the first thing you learn about the Bible is how the snake wants us to have knowledge like god, and, I mean…that didn’t sound that bad. I just told them maybe Satan isn’t such a bad guy.” I started cracking up laughing, imagining the look on viewer’s faces as he dropped that bomb on them.

KOMO News Report: Olympia Man turning heads with his ‘Satanic’ art

My eyes took note of the incredible little details and fine typography, as professional as a top of the line design studio. On black construction paper, with carefully rounded corners, I found the inverted pentacle and cross, all beautifully hand embossed with silver ink. There were tickets with barcodes, some printed on hand-cut carnival tickets as if you evoke a modern nod to Anton Lavey.  Some of the tickets says “Remove this to Invoke Demons” creating a sort of  infernal Alice in Wonderland surrealism.  Others give you a number to the Satanic Prayer line, which Anti-Chris maintains.

Distributing flyers for Satan with dedication and passion requires a lot of energy and a lot of patience. Some of the public reacts with fear and paranoia, sometimes even hatred. Anti-Chris documents all of this activity with the detachment of an anthropologist, coolly observing the behavior of those he wishes to win over to the dark side. He photographs a janitor at Evergreen and notes it with the giggle-worthy caption “This employee of The Evergreen State College takes down our flyers when he thinks nobody is looking.”

Other incidents get a bit more…personal. After removing all of the Satanic material, a disturbed viewer leaves a note:

Undaunted, Chris puts up more material, and creates a reprisal flyer to accompany it, something he calls “Satanic Rapid Response to Hate Crime” which includes a prayer for the bigots and a wry note:

Other fun events he creates to delight local left-hand path initiates are spring egg hunts with bottled demons and Satanist swag hidden in colorful plastic eggs, and invitations to seek out his free wares around the city and at Last Word Books, one of the bastions of free-speech and tolerance in a surprisingly intolerant cityscape of America.

Chris maintains  The Satanic Missionary Society and hosts Gathering of Satanists at The Olympia Center every 4th Wednesday of the month (updates on the date and room are posted to Worship Satan)
