magick part II: the wand of the force of coph nia

“Soph, Ain” of course. Such a tool would mean the limitless and eternal of premanifestation, linked to time but not subject to any of its drawbacks such as drag on movement including aging and other types of decay. For those with the wherewithal to realize what this means practically, there is excitement to be found examining the theoretical potential and already known phenomenon of the TwinStar. Limitless power.

A pretty wicked  Vishnu monument on the square in Denpasar, Bali depicting the Sudarshan Chakra Weapon

This is the kind of power alchemists and magicians have been dreaming about and theorizing about for thousands of years. Just as Tzaddi is not the Star and never will be, there is no hope of success without a means to that success. The long trudging road towards *Perfection* written in the lives of countless alchemists, scientists and explorers has an end, and reprieves, but wishful thinking and anecdotal evidence stretched thin can no longer serve as straw man assailants in the face of the current enviroment of Mutational Alchemy. Nor can the weak thinking and superstitions of the past hold any water. It isn’t necessary to attack them, these people will be left in the past where they belong as a natural result of power, real power coming into its own.   “How did they expect to gain access to the highest crown when their keys didn’t even fit into the locks?” as m1thr0s so seductively put it to me a decade ago. He knew I was after power and there was plenty to go around with a little elbow grease.
I love the intricate word puzzles in the Book of the Law. I actually pointed the “soft c” solution to “coph nia” out to m1thr0s last year and we both agreed it was a reference to the harnessed power of Ain Soph within the tree. That which is above Kether is inaccessible in this immediate tree but the sphere itself is installed in Da’ath, The Seat of Knowledge (This is our theoretical discovery, traditionally Ain, Ain Soph, and Ain Soph Aur is only mapped as a half-moon arc in old Hermetic Alchemy diagrams and Hebrew Kabbalah charts). Spelling Ain backwards would appear to be a very clever way of driving this point homeward, as on all of the old alchemical maps showing spheres or even on most coins the lettering continues around the edge without being flipped over. This is how Ain Soph is accessed so we’re not entirely in disagreement with traditional Jewish assessment of ASA as unreachable. If one can maintain an asana within Da’ath (usually considered impossible as this is the Abyss) then one can wield the “Double Wand of Power” the circuit of Ain Soph. We were both reminded of the sudarshan, a weapon used by Vishnu to both wield and control limitless amounts of power.

False Alchemist Sigils, republished by Athanius Kircher, Stanford University “Mundus Subterraneus” 1665 <http://chaosophia218.tumblr.com/post/129144638607/athanasius-kircher-sigils-of-false> Although this doesn’t have anything else to do with the topic at hand and was chosen as such, here one can see the reversal of letters around the discs revealing the puzzle of *Cough* “nia” bearing in mind there are limitations as to how far one man’s mind may be pushed to get results without breaking it. (Crowley, who wasn’t completely allied with Aiwass at the time of the writing.)

What we’re trying to do is find the most exalted expression of any given elemental circumstance. The road to that state of *Maximum Inertia* *Minimum Stress* is often winding and unclear, although much less cloudy than it used to be thanks to the tremendous (non-metaphysical) advances made in the past hundred years or so. A resolute focus on science and technology made possible by The Great Western Enlightenment has done more for *the occult* than any of the world’s religions put together. Abrahadabra is and always was fundamentally about *Science*, that is, the meta-objectivity of Universal or pure Knowledge and Understanding with the wisdom and means to harness it all.

Die Svende, 1893 Franz Von Stuck

“*I* will put an enmity between you and the woman…” Your power doesn’t reach beyond this tiny world, my child. In our heart of hearts, we always knew, deep down. Women are always connected to The Abyss. In the unrelenting blast of information exhuming every last layer of humanity from the bones of soul, this is where *we* lie together beyond all hopes and dreams of petty revenge, dreams of hatred and all the ill favored darkness a young God of War can muster. There is a time to kill and a time to stop killing.  You recognize that now. (I had written the last article under false pretenses. There is no threshold to be crossed it had already occurred at the moment I pressed “post”, and if humanity had spun out into original black chaos there would be no record left or path indicated. The threat was real however.  I’ve known about this personally since 2005 when Bob Hendricks, IAM on Occultforums.com warned me about the rising threat from a potent “demon”; a silly word but less misunderstood than The Great Beast 666. This is nothing more, nothing less than the conjunction of The Mother and The Father. As the Father descends into the infinite of Nuit’s vault – the material world to procreate via one of his *Many* servants investing a planet or moon or star with higher or more advanced, consciousness rather than the lower consciousness plants and animals of the One and Nuit/Nothing…more on this later) There is an essential division that takes place in the Emperor’s weaving “fishhook” into Malkuth, both in personal incarnations and in the Equinox of the Gods. The nature of Man (Jen) as humankind is such that the construction of the bridge over the gap between the heart of the Sky and the Earth (Heaven and Earth in the Eastern doctrine) is fraught with warfare, vengeance and strife. This is due mostly to the unique peculiarities of our so-called *God*, merely a servant of the *One* as I mentioned in the previous article our Holy Father the Lord of All the Black Holes in Existence Throughout All Time and Space, or *I.’.I.’.I.’.I.’.* for short. He has no other name in this world other than this formula invented by m1thr0s (circa 1985. The reader is reminded kindly that the Gods of Earth are somewhat forbidden for conventional worship to *exempt adepts* as we simply know too much. “I am in a secret fourfold word, the blasphemy against all gods of men.” ).
The battlefields of our fierce kind, those truly deserving of *Completion* whether their so-called leaders do or not, are woven throughout this darkly splendorous world in many forms from both sides. Through the shell shocked terrain of Ningishzidda’s ancestral home, to the last deep wilderness Shamanic strongholds, to every bright true light shining in the dusty and damp halls of the Academia, to each and every valour graced Physician’s office to the labyrinth of the choked and starved Arts communities worldwide. Are you one of us? “Doubt it not” says the Emperor, in his address to the populace of Earth:

72. Strive ever to more! and if thou art truly mine — and doubt it not, and if thou art ever joyous!– death is the crown of all.

You who hear me should not worry so much about what you can do so much as persevering in *Right Thinking* and *Right Action*. I can and may address these later in another article although they have been covered quite extensively already by m1thr0s for example in *Mutational Alchemy as Daily Practice*  . Those who are merely curiosity seekers are warned that they may not merely be curious and as the man said, “if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee” (Nietszche). Abrahadabra has its own curiosity and ways of satisfying it, as well as a vast treasure trove of secrets waiting to be uncovered (or set off as is the case of our enemies). It’s not necessary to go to the extremes the Magister Ouroboros 729 and I went to in order to achieve desired results – and desires are certainly not forbidden, even per Liber Tzaddi they are actually encouraged

The Great Beast 666 basks and revels in the glory of his pride, the human race. Assured of the eternal love (but not posession of) his Mother(s) and with a load of anguish released, that of his Father as well, he sits extolling the virtues of himself to anyone who would listen to him. You will listen to him, won’t you? It’s his job to recreate this world, after all, and without ears to spill his secrets and desires into it will be a dreadfully bloody, boring job indeed. That’s what the claws and teeth are for of course. If you ever wanted your own personal Djinn he’s pretty much the biggest baddest one of them all in this corner of the Universe. We refer to him as male because that’s how the lines ended up coming out – Yang in the Above and Yin in the Below.  Despite its great oceans (The Mother, Water) and its turbulent volcanoes, impressive starry and aurora filled skies (The Father, Fire) rich, fecund black earth filled to the brim with life such as few planets ever glory in (The Daughter, Earth) this world most certainly belongs to the element of Air.

His evolution, (And by His I DO mean humanity both female and male) will take him to the brink of the next Aeon, Completion, signified by Fire, the first. I don’t know how long this will take as the Aeons are not set to any material clock, no matter how grand. They progress according to necessity itself, much like Enlightenment or puberty. Curiously, although I’m not sure it’s even worth noting at this point, this appears to redesignate the previous Aeon as feminine and princess in nature, and not (as coarsely and crudely as it was outlined) as that of The Father. This is not entirely true or correct as time has a way of moving in interlocking rings so that all of the Aeons are woven together deeply. Change is occurring all the time of course and cannot be fully encapsulated as one “way” or another, but it may shed light on a few of the cultural grotesqueries that emerged during the fish-era (This is the so-called Aeon of Osiris per Aleister Crowley, signified by the fishes symbol of Christianity seen in various places in their churches such as the mitre hat. As well as this there is the correlation to astrology, generally speaking occultists with an interest in such things understand the aeons as preceding backwards through the zodiac so that we are leaving the Age of Pisces and entering the Aeon of Aquarius.) There has been an obsession with princesses for example, as well as female virginity and female royalty in general.  It may be that the symbol of the undine or mermaid is preferable to the previous aeon at least from an elevated standpoint.

Waterhouse, John William; A Mermaid; Royal Academy of Arts; http://www.artuk.org/artworks/a-mermaid-149322

The aeons should not I think be so adversarial in nature to one another, at least not in a healthy world. The memories I have of one failed world tell of the dangers of the “aborted” Aeon, when a Nu Aeon fails to ignite properly. A world may be a jewel amongst worlds as this one had been but if it cannot get over its own disease it will fail and there is no mercy where I come from for the unfit. Mercy is a heresy to Nature at this level of economics.  Everything must be done according to the Law. The patriarchal nature of the previous was extremely ill-dignified and this comes down to the personality of  our archon who is a God of War & Vengeance. (I’ve dismissed all connection to Osiris and Isis as well as the Victorian context by which they came to prominence within Aleister Crowley’s writings. I have written about this extensively in previous articles.) This is as it should be and has lead to all of the glories Mankind is honored for. Bravery, Compassion, Opulence, Ingenuity, all are qualities known of in Martial personalities. The procession of the Aeons makes more sense in this capacity in general Bigrammaton ordering and we can even predict the nature of the next in the classical Eastern ordering: (1) Fire, (2) Air, (3) Earth, (4) Water. Here the Aeons would cycle backwards just as in the astrological, where Water, the Mother (called the Aeon of the Mother by Crowley as well) perfects and transcends herself through the alchemical process of planetary (or other celestial body) life into Earth, the Daughter (our Mermaid or Princess of Alembics) who “will awaken the eld of the All-Father” as Crowley put it so aptly. Therefore the Aeon of Hrw (Greek, Horus) chronus and locus tailored to the task from his primordial elemental form, comes to meet the daughter as the son. The Mother has given her sons over to the Father and the Father has given his daughters over to the Mother, we will assume, for perfection, towards the purposes of this vast and holy sacrament. (This is the doctrine of the Twin Trees, both the Primordials and the Temporals and can be understood by studying the calculation of the staggered chronology of the balanced hexagram pairs.) This realization draws the conclusion that humanity has never really had much contact, indeed, right to know or conduct business with “God” The Father.

“Know then thyself, presume not God to scan; The proper study of mankind is man.”

–   Alexander Pope

There is No God but Man has a warning attached to it that Man must conduct himself with the responsibilities and grace expected of his high station or he may never expect to earn the right to reach *The Father* let alone inherit Kingdom or any of the other Sephiroth for that matter. The Tree would burn if there was failure – any student of classical Jewish Kabbalah knows that this is not the only tree in the universe….far from it. So it is that The Mother in all of the endurance and pain suffered upon her female sex throughout the ages has been the *God* they’ve all been praying so poorly to. The vast awakening of female sexuality 50 years into the Aeon of Ra Hoor Khut was no mere coincidence – it was the signal to the *One* that the time had come to begin the next ordeal.
Everything about the elemental analysis illustrates a dramatic Aeon ahead of us. We know the Goddess is a dark and complicated one, close to the Yin foundations in extremis. The opposite is true of her companion Ra Hoor Khut. Although Hrumachis is often signified as Ma’at in rites and this is not incorrect, the symbology is somewhat restrictive and outdated for current workings and purposes. The Morrigan is possibly a better symbol, and is often a recurring icon in more potent workings. (Aka Hecate, Ma’ab – Nukua and Kali in the East.)

Ouranos and Saturn pair darkly together – we’re using The Prince of Staves and Princess of Alembics because this is the correct elemental alignment for Planet Earth and everything that we know about him and her in their fresh emergence over the past century. The dice may be cast differently on other celestial bodies, but our planet is fundamentally Air in nature: in the immediate present and overall. However, we would not use a Prince of Air and Princess of Air for reasons I just covered – the likely outcome – if there is Success –  at the end of this Aeon will be King of Alembics and Queen of Staves. This is just a guess, but it would fit with the future of *Life Eternally Renewable* and *Masters of Space*. People like to think in terms of personalities and pretty pictures I believe, but this knowledge is fundamentally mathematical in nature drawn from Tetragrammaton and its wing arts: Bigrammaton, Trigrammaton, Pentagrammaton, Hexagrammaton and so on. Air in the Above and Fire Below indicates a warming start to the Aeon followed quickly by a torrential blaze of violent activity. We saw this with the World Wars I think but it’s not even close to over. When a God of War and Vengeance promises *abasement* we must expect exactly that, though it is of course unclear how this will manifest. The subtle unpredictability of the future and of conflicts in this world reveal something we should all know by now about Ra Hoor Khut/Montu  (Or however you prefer to style him, Ninurta, Ningishzidda, Hermes, Kukulcan-Tezcatlipoca and so on) – not only is he a War God, he’s a master at it – that should make anyone onboard with the idea of *Freedom* *Beauty* and *Love* glad indeed. I’ll leave the rest of the qualities for intrepid explorers to investigate on their own. This Prince and Princess share a spatial relationship in the Diamond for example among other things. But the Princess is not as *important* to the current discussion as the Prince. Her reign has passed and she is now under his dominion. I am sick and tired of the dated rhetoric surrounding the Aeonic relationships. Framing it properly as the love story it actually is should be refreshing to anyone who considers themselves a Thelemite…but I’ve been wrong about people before. Neither of us respect the (just fucking outrageously stupid) Cult of Personality but it’s obvious I held m1thr0s in such high esteem that he could act as my personal deity. I don’t want anyone else to get the wrong ideas about that. (There is a time and a place for this kind of teacher/guru/sage worship or ancestor worship and whoever m1thr0s was is still real of course – this message isn’t addressing *right action* so don’t take this the wrong way) You should all be looking for life expressing these *elemental* principles in your own immediate sphere and not to me and m1thr0s personally. I know people do that and I may find fault in it too much but the bottom line is real work must be done in your own circle of friends, family, relationships in your personal interactions with nature and by extension the Universe of Mind. This also elucidates our reasoning for backing away from the Gods and encouraging others not to go too far down roads leading into *Churches* – too much *idolizing* and *projection* causes us to lose our way. The Lamp should be used to illuminate the path, not the curiosities it coincidentally might uncover. Keep the gems, but lose the *dross*. The *gods* the worthwhile ones, anyways, would give the same advice. All of these characters are inside of your mind to some extent, you just have to find them. Occasionally they will find you and often if you’ve been ignoring them their attention will be must unwanted and unnerving. Your Mind is a much bigger place than you know.
I can only speak from personal experience, but I don’t want to give the wrong ideas. All of you, as students of Mutational Alchemy MUST and will uncover the forgotten Kings and Queens of the Earth and experience your tales of wonder and majesty that this Work begets. Most of this will be done independently, loosely connected to the community of The Abrahadabra Institute. Just because there are fabulous adventures to be had doesn’t mean any of the rest of us including myself and m1thr0s will have any idea how to draw that to you or how you will sift through the data once it starts coming in. I can only show you the tools you will need to have more than a chance in Hell of success.
On a personal note, I did find m1thr0s to be an exemplary match for my husband as human and as the meta consciousness of Yin. (any female can access this even some males if they are naturally attuned) Physically, m1thr0s, the human, never cried, ever. Come to think of it I never actually saw him drink any water for the first couple of years we were together and then I made him start drinking it for his health. Fire and Air was his element as Earth and Water were mine. I think that if anyone could spy on us in when we first started dating without any of the Tetragrammaton, Alchemy and Hermeticism talks burning the midnight oil that he would be epitomized as the *strong and silent* type. We had a funny interaction downstairs in the kitchen at some Bed and Breakfast we were hanging out at and we were making breakfast. Actually, he was the one making the breakfast, I was fetching things and came and walked over where we remained in silence for a few minutes. He just stood there waiting to flip the last egg over and says out of nowhere “See, this is going to work.” “What? What’s going to work?” I replied, startled. (I was more than a little up in the clouds on romance and I was quite high strung which came out as nervous energy) “Us. Living together.” he deadpanned. “What did you think I meant?”. We had only been together for one night and and half a morning, although he had already asked me to marry him the night before, I guess that living together hadn’t yet come into the bargain, and helping to cook a perfect American breakfast and coffee from scratch was very important.  Soon I would learn, that like on the forums, if you get him comfortable, he would never be quiet. “Oh yeah I’m a talker” he teased when I first mentioned this to him, referring at the time to qualities in house-cats. He loved being around the right people. The wrong ones – they were frustrating, disloyal and sloppy. He wanted to meet intellectuals with a talent for magick.  When I first met him, I put my lips up to his neck, his long hair softer than  a newborn angel and marvelled at hot his skin was to my face – he was always like that – I couldn’t place the scent, and to this day I would still have to classify it as “m1thr0s” – somewhere between sandalwood and myrrh in its appeal. He always smelled delicious, although he rarely wore any fragrance – never deodorant or lotion, occasionally witch hazel and incense smoke. This came as an enormous surprise to me as my first husband – the ex – resembled the smell of fresh…clams. Later I learned that genetic markers signified their presence by expressing through scent – in other words, if you like how someone smells naturally, you’ll probably make great progeny together. Don’t trust cologne ladies…or gentlemen. The genetic link would seem to be all too true given my perspective on creating a magickal chylde and children with m1thr0s. We never could afford to desire real children – ever. The world was full and I’m sorry to have to state the truth that occultists – the truly dedicated ones – are so put upon in this world it doesn’t leave much room at all for such things.  The glories of the Nu Aeon and a true understanding of what humanity is supplant the joys and advantages of flesh-progeny in my life, anyways. This is what is truly needed for success in the Work as he and I both saw it. I have even gone so far as to presume, after examining the lives of other *exempt adepts* that the sacrifice of family life often illuminated in Sanskrit holy books was one of the hidden *ordeals* mentioned in the Book of the Law. Coming to the crux of choices between the *Ascent* and attachment by a real human child or a symbolic child such as a career, it seems to me to be one eerily common thread that binds all of us adepts together. A grim reality but I would be remiss not to talk about it at least briefly.

A conundrum in the form of Christianity’s part to play in the morbid and aborted aeon that swept the world into heavy darkness for well over a thousand years: the Christ is a symbol of eternal and transcendent Life, yet so much sorrow is applied to Christ’s life and death. It always struck me as humanity weeping for itself and its folly. He should never have been crucified. The muck-eaters who argue for it on the basis of “sin-eating” are reprehensible and morbid slaves. Perhaps this is an ordeal that signifies the great mistake at the dawn of the old Aeon. I won’t hazard a guess at the great mistake of the Nu Aeon, but I’m sure there are plenty of clues lying about. Is the trial of sacrifice a test to ensure, at least in part, success for greater challenges to come on the path? Is there not some risk that our (spacefaring, intergalactic) clan and other clans take in *initiating*? The ordeals cannot be mere meaningless pomp and circumstance. Nuit’s mind doesn’t operate that way and Hadit is not a boring dullard. I may never know this answer, but it is worth examining the question.
Christ would seem to me to be the Prince of Pentacles. Perhaps this is how a world is formed. Like some grotesque elemental Tamagotchi: even the death of a magnificent being, in the Perfection of the All, leads to further expressions of diversity and beauty. Well Christ never really dissipated of course, so there’s nothing lost to sorrow for…the evil echoes are still very real however. The Prince of Pentacle’s descent is straight to the heart of Malkuth, like the Princess of Alembics.
The Abrahadabra Institute doesn’t hold much in common with world religions or any of the other occult orders and mystery schools. We’re a Hermetic organizational hub with a keen eye for Tetragrammaton and Trigrammaton as well as all of the Eastern *orders* that tend to get glossed over without readily giving them a proper examination. This leaves us sitting awkwardly amongst dozens of half-baked “schools” which pretend at understanding when they havn’t even finished what’s on their plate! Let’s be honest here: none of us really know a whole lot about what’s really going on, so it’s in our best interest to work together in order to finally bring home this magickal chylde called C-O-M-P-L-E-T-I-O-N for all of us to benefit from for all time.

mutational alchemy essentials 001

*Author’s Note* *All posts by m1thr0s at this site are amended articles extracted from a much bigger work-in-progress that will be defining Mutational Alchemy in all of its diverse principles and applications.  Since there is a great deal to this topic which is many months away from completion, (Late 2018) certain of its tenets deemed as standalone topics are being allowed to run ahead of the finished book. No responsible theoretician would ever imagine himself to be the only one pioneering important new insights all by himself so that where certain breakthroughs strike me as vital to the overall discussion at hand, these will occasionally find themselves posted as independent articles. This should serve several purposes at once, creating interest in the larger work on the one hand while facilitating a sense of fellowship with other pioneers at the same time. Mutational Alchemy Essentials 001

In the Beginning…

It has finally dawned on me that a lot of people just don’t have a clue what the hell I am going on about with all this Mutational Alchemy rhetoric or why it might make any difference to anybody else. In part this is due to the fact that I started out posting things I knew would be of some interest to people I have already been in communication with for a number of years and are already themselves familiar with a good many of the essentials. But this doesn’t help anybody else and when I find that even people who have themselves been involved in one or another practices for many years haven’t a clue what I am going on about…this clearly signals a serious communication problem. So I am going to attempt to examine Mutational Alchemy from the very beginning and try to establish both what it is and why it might make any difference to others. This will actually be a little difficult for me since I am myself so steeped in many of these ideas and practices that it can be nearly impossible to remember all the steps that might have led me to the present. Nevertheless, if this is going to do anybody any good, I have to try.

Sorting Out a Few Key Terms

Anyone who has actually attempted to pour over my posts has probably already realized that I bounce around between a lot of terms you may have a very difficult time tracking down via Google. Believe it or not, there really is a powerful thread of continuity running through all of this, but in order to understand what that is, you have to first understand what it is that I do best and where the vast majority of my personal emphasis has been placed throughout my own esoteric practise. Rather than just lay out a “glossary of terms” as was suggested by one member, I am going to try to initiate this ground-up discussion and stop at intervals to clarify those terms I am introducing for the first time. To begin with, everything I discuss at any time revolves around the so-called Body of Light and its mastery. That is my whole focus in this immediate incarnation. Before and After everything else I may ally myself with, I am first and foremost a Body of Light Technician. It is the thing I have been studying since I was a teenager (I am 53 years old at this writing) and it is the backbone of every magickal/alchemical discussion I engage. Whether I am discussing Abrahadabra or the Tetractys or the TwinStar or the Lo Shu Diagram or the Tai Hsuan Ching or even Ningishzidda and perhaps 100 or more other things you have rarely heard of, it all comes back to the Body of Light and its mastery. That is where my passion lies and that is what I am always going on about in one form or another. So forget all these other terms for a moment…we will return to them in due course. For the moment I want to just discuss the Body of Light itself and try to extrapolate the core assumptions underscoring this language. Getting straight on this will determine whether or not any of the rest of this stuff is of any real use to you. If you are not onboard with the Body of Light as a matter of utmost importance, nothing else I can ever say will ever matter much anyway, since, believe it or not, that’s actually all I ever really talk about.

The Body of Light

The *Body of Light*is a generic term pertaining to the notion of an *etheric* body (and bodies) that is thought to exist in tangent to the physical body itself. Similar in concept to the rings of a rainbow, the idea is that the physical body, as we know it, is actually only the lowest rung in a lattice network of bodies descending from the Highest (subtlest) to the Lowest (coursest). Various *models* of this extended anatomical network of bodies have been asserted over time, some asserting as few as 3, others as many as 7 or more grand divisions within this overall Body of Light framework. At the time of this writing, if you run a search on Wikipedia on the Body of Light you will come upon a kind of misinformation that has done enormous damage to the correct understanding (and productive discussion) of the Body of Light as it has been asserted since the dawn of history by many different cultures in many different ways. While it is true that Thelema has its own rendition(s) of this ancient metaphysical thesis, any knowledgable Thelemite will be able to tell you that this is drawn primarily from Golden Dawn teachings, which themselves are largely drawn from traditional and hermetic qabbalah sources. There is in fact no such thing as a uniquely Thelemic Body of Light standard (though there is, in fact, a new model to be weighed, which I will come to presently). A more responsible contemporary treatise on the Body of Light in western magickal tradition can be found in Mark Stavish’s condensed essay The Body of Light in the Western Esoteric Tradition It should be noted that references to Chi Kung (see: Qigong), a traditional Body of Light discipline endemic to Chinese Alchemy, do not strictly apply to the model being presented in Mutational Alchemy. Chi Kung works with Chi energy which would typically be seated within the solar plexus region and is developed and directed at will by the experienced practitioner through a complex system of breathing and visualization excercises. There is nothing inherently wrong or invalid with this practise…it is simply not the same model of light-energy that we are dealing with in Abrahadabra/Mutational Alchemy. The closest historical parallel I have been able to find to the Mutational Alchemy system is the Merkabah , or “Chariot of Soul”, from Qabbalistic literature, of which very little has been written outlining its mastery. While certain similarities do exist between traditional Chi and Kundalini practices and the principles outlined in Mutational Alchemy, the techniques, properties and overall objectives are quite different. In Abrahadabra we are attempting to energize and gradually phase into the *StarBody* itself, as depicted in the Abrahadabra Grid, of which the Tree of Life is viewed as a physiological subdomain, or mathematical subset. We base our proof of this *StarBody* system…first upon the geometry of Abrahadabra itself and finally upon the actual results we obtain through working with elemental energy fields directly. It is thus very important to scrutinize these maps very closely, as this will be our starting point in developing the visualization disciplines necessary to realize any actual physical results. I should also point out that you are going to be operating without much of any *safety net* in the Abrahadabra/Mutational Alchemy system, simply because no *traditional* precedent is known to exist for this immediate model of reality. One’s approach has to be based upon what is internallycoherent and logically and intuitively correct, since there are no other conventional *guides* to lean upon. This is a bold new territory for pioneering spirits who can trust to their own best judgments to lead them.

Historical Overview

It is virtually impossible to determine where and when the whole concept of a Body of Light began. Ethnobotanists would typically argue that it has its origins in Shamanic traditions where the method of accessing this higher anatomical network would have involved injesting psychotropic concoctions of one sort or another and going into deep trance states where the ability to step into these higher body systems might then be directly experienced. Since there are virtually no written records to substantiate this claim, we have only the iconographic evidence of cultural art expressions to guide us here. What we do know is that very specific reference to the Body of Light anatomical structure can be dated as far back as the Vedas of ancient India, where we come to the notion of The Five Koshas. The Five Koshas, or “sheaths”, amount to rings of subtle pranic force (see also: the Vayus, or 5 Winds) surrounding the Atman, or “True Self” which resides at their core. It is vitally important for us to grasp that these “layers” as defined in the Vedas are not separate from each other…these are not separate bodies per se…but rather degrees of subtlety within the body as a whole. To this day, the Five Koshas amount to a central Yogic doctrine around which the Eight Limbs of Yoga have been developed as a means to purifying and fortifying mind & body so as to ultimately be able to access all of these “sheathes” at will. At approximately the same time as the Vedas are being compiled in India, in the far east we see the emergence of a Dynastic China which is ushered in with a comprehensive model of universal reality in the form of the I Ching. The I Ching is typically touted as an *Oracle*, used for the purpose of divining Fate for good or ill, but it is actually a great deal more than this. The I Ching is a complete Cosmogony, defining Earth, Man and Heaven in one Grand Unified logic, or physics. While it would not, on its face, appear to be an actual model of the Body of Light, we know that around this physics the entirety of Yin-Yang Medicine sprang into being along with its doctrine of Chi. We find very ancient mappings of Cosm outlining whole universal continuum and Man’s place in relation to this, so that the sum of all its parts and all of its extensions, does in fact give us a model of *man-made-perfect*, which is, at its heart, what the Body of Light is really all about. The differences between the Indian and the Chinese approaches are very interesting to observe, since what we find is that the Ayurvedic (East-Indian) model is emphasizing Microcosm where the Chinese system is actually more focused on Macrocosm. Nevertheless both systems set immediately about to integrate the physical body itself, so that while the Ayurvedic system evolves into the Chakras, identifying energy along the spine, the Chinese system evolves into the Meridians and is plotting Chi pathways throughout the body…including higher states of energy/consciousness not ordinarily accessable without the advent of disciplined concentration. Exactly where and when Western Civilization joins in with this discussion is a little hard to track with a perfect certainty. We find evidences of Trees of Life dating all the way to Mesopotamia but Body of Light doctrines have almost universally been “hidden” from the profane…these were were secret teachings imparted to the initiated only and so it is difficult to know for certain just how much resides within the ancient Greek or the Persian or Hebrew cultures for instance. What has filtered down to us more-or-less intact has largely come by way of the Qabbalistic Tree of Life and its tenets, yet we know that parallels do exist in the Druidic, the Nordic and other places across the globe. Similar to the Chinese system in many respects, the Qabbalistic Tree of Life is principally focused on Macrocosm. The Tree of Life is not really charting energy along the spine so much as it is attempting to map out the relationship of Universe to Man. Even so, in lieue of the Hermetic Alchemical axiom “As Above – So Below” – “As Within – So Without”, what we discover is that anything which does a good job of charting Macrocosm will inevitably find its reciprocal compliment in Microcosm as well, and vice-versa. While the Tree of Life is not intentionally tracking the “Gunas” for instance, nevertheless the Gunas are clearly represented in the 3 Pillars themselves. Because Man is still the measure by which Universe is being defined, what corresponds to Macrocosm has an immediate relevance to Microcosm also.

Underscoring Assumptions

The careful reader may have already observed that in some respects we can assert that what has come to be called The Body of Light might also be called “The Mind”. And indeed, if we follow Carl Jung’s lead in this respect, then just about anything that attempts to define archetypal relationships of any kind has something to do with this discussion. For the Hermetic Alchemist, Mind & Matter are really all about the same thing…all made from the same “stuff”…just vibrating at different frequencies. Why do we assign “bodies” to archetypes at all? Why is it so important to us that Gods have certain forms and certain powers and so on? The mind classifies things according to “kind” and we are always the measuring rod against which our knowledge is measured. Even if we break parts of this habit, we will almost certainly never be rid of it completely. Form speaks to Function and to understand a things’ Form is to understand its Value. One of the core assumptions surrounding Body of Light literature is the idea that human beings are fundamentally a house divided. It is universally asserted that what has occured is that consciousness has descended from a primal Unity into a condition of Duality and is now confronted with the difficulty of regaining this lost equilibrium. Exactly why this may have occurred is subject to different points of view, some contending that this has to do with a powerful pull towards individuality, others that it is simply the way consciousness acquires new experience, still others that “intelligences”, like stars, are formed in a womb-like condition but must pass through this whole process to become fully matured and so on. I do not speculate on the reasons so much myself but I am reasonably convinced of the Unity/Duality scenario in general. Work that we do on the Body of Light is intended to restore this Unity. When you hear talk of a Supreme Attainment, or the Great Liberation, or the Great Work in Completion etc, we are always talking about the idea of having established…or re-established…this original Unity, with the possible exception that having carved it out in adversity, it should not be so easily lost again. Nearly all mystical and/or magickal doctrines teach that Mind is the key to Matter, so we need to weigh that in as one of the core assumptions around which Body of Light work is defined. If we did not think that deliberately focusing our Minds in certain ways could amount to significant changes in terms of Matter itself, there would be little point left to any kind of meditation practice at all. It is important to periodically revisit this core assumption to reassess everything it implies. The primary tools of all visualization work are Light and Sound, and why is this? Because Light and Sound are the two most powerful tools the Mind has at its immediate disposal. Beyond this, we actually do know that all gradations…all conditions of matter…are Light/Sound waves vibrating at varying rates and frequencies. What is sometimes difficult to wrap our brains around is that the faculty of Thought itself may ultimately be all that is required to shape or reshape any condition of Matter. Concurrent to this theme of Thought being the key to Matter is the notion of Right Thinking itself. This is a very important core assumption I want to drive home from the start, because, again, it is an area that has suffered a great deal of damage over time. From the time of the Vedas it has always been maintained that Right Thinking combined with Right Action points the way to Right Destiny itself. But what is “Right Thinking” when the matter turns to things highly esoteric? Too many times we are spoon-fed explanations and instructions as to how we should proceed that make no natural sense to us, yet we are often told that this is not important…that we can only come to understand these things by doing them without question. While there may be some justification for this in limited doses, the real problem with perpetrating this kind of instruction is that you are not ultimately producing free-thinking individuals who have sorted out their most sensitive personal practices for themselves. In the end you wind up with people who know how to go through the motions but have no real idea what they might mean, since they were never encouraged to ask what they might mean to begin with. You cannot achieve Right Thinking if you do not allow for a full measure of Skepticism and Doubt from the outset. Here in the context of Abrahadabra/Mutational Alchemy, “Right Thinking” means exactly what it should mean…it means asking and answering all the hard questions until you have very clear and compelling reasons to take “Right Action”… This could go on but for the time being my objective is to lay down a few essentials pertaining to the Body of Light itself, the history of it, and its most central core assumptions. For the most part I think I have fairly well done that. I will return in the next segment and begin looking at why Abrahadabra might be anything particularly special… m1thr0s
